What do I do with an overgrown garden?

I have never had a garden before but bought a house and have a 20x20 patch of garden which is over grown with milkweed, dill, fennel, baby maple trees, and some random not so pretty weeds. I am planning on pulling the herbs and potting the baby trees to sell at farmer's market and just plain pulling the weeds. Question is what low maintenance things do I plant in place of the junk? It's June so I kinda missed spring, and I can't do tomatoes because the owners said they had tomatoes infected with fungus last year. I have to give it another year for the fungus to leave the soil.

Are all dogs scared of lawn mowers?

This is a question out of curiosity, but i have a year old labradoodle that is spoiled to death and is treated extremely well and I got her from a pretty sketchy breeder when she was 7 weeks old, and I never really noticed until today that she is terrified of lawn mowers. I was mowing the lawn today and I had the lawn mower sitting between my dads SUV and my house, with about 5 feet for me to walk through with out touching the mower and so I grabbed my dogs collar and started walking to the yard and when I got about 6 feet away from the mower my dog started shaking and her tail went in between her legs and she started crying and she wanted to go back into the backyard. I Had to pick up my 76 pound dog and carry her around the mower, she was that scared. I was wondering are all dogs terrified of mowers or do you think my dog was some how abused or hurt involving a lawnmower before I got her?

Hey Nancy, I like the idea of your muse being made up with beautifully manicured emerald green nails. I love it. She sounds quite wacky and has a will of her own. Mine doesn't even have a face, she's all blurred and floaty. Obscure under layers of flimsy veils. I think she needs a make-over. Who's in charge - er - she is!

Will the "United" States break up?

In a way, the various political factions or ideologues starting their own little countries with broken up segments of the US would be good, because then when liberals form a country and it fails, just like California and every other liberal state, it will be loud and clear to the world and those in history just who or what ideology was responsible for bringing down the once great USA. I don't get it, you want a pay rise because you got caught slacking off? I suggest that you talk to your boss ASAP if you want to keep your job and tell him you won't do this again and that you have been doing other things to make up for you slackness, which was un-noticed by him.
