How is this start so far?

Well I really liked the opening sentence, it was, erm, original. But I would maybe alter the third sentence a little, like instead of "a long friend..." it should probably be long-time friend. But hey what do I know, I'm just a kid. And hey I like your writing style, it's a little like my own. I'm sure it's going to be great, however it turns out!
